Meet Barbara. She Heard about our studio through @jenmcgeenielsen. She is a nurse practitioner in the newborn ICU. To say her job takes a lot is a massive understatement. She not only is helping other nurses take care of the babies, she is taking care of these little tiny infants. She’s also holding parents hands through it all. She is doing much more behind the scenes than I am describing to you in this short post. Barbara I honor you! The amount of stress that many of us live with on a day-to-day basis is traumatic. Let us not discount trauma. Even secondhand trauma is trauma. How are you healing from your trauma? How are you healing your own self? We are not all young and fit like @tom_demke. Our classes are filled with all sizes and shapes and age ranges. The beautiful thing about @baptisteyoga is that if you can breathe you can do Baptiste yoga. That being written, what we do is POWER yoga. Power yoga is a term we use in Baptiste because what we do IS powerful And Purposeful. The way we hold our bodies in poses (Asana) is intentional. We believe by putting our bodies into the pose we tap into this age old practice, which is over 5,000 years old. I didn’t make up these poses. I am a student who has practiced many forms of yoga. My experience is that I kept searching until I found what I was looking for, that is Baptiste Power Yoga. If you want to get healthy and heal yourself it begins with your inside world. This is where we come in. We are a stand for you tapping Into Your Own Greatness. We hold space for YOU to feel all of it. The way you hold your body in Asana takes something, what we do is not easy, and though will fill your life with more ease. You may not be ready for our power practice. You may not be ready for what we have to offer. You may not be ready to be powerful in your yoga practice or life....yet. It is us who are guests here. Sometimes we have an expectant attitude about life and what we deserve. I wonder how difficult it would be to shift that perspective and feel as though we are guests here in Southern Utah. Almost as if we were a part of a good story that was being told....and we all were sitting around a fire tonight, in the light of the full moon, doing a ceremony of shedding the past and setting an intention of the future. We would sit around and listen to the old wise medicine man and story tellers, as they told us stories from long long ago. We would feel a deep stirring within us, almost as if we were there. We would realize by the end of this ceremony that it isn’t our earth or world, that we are just guests for a small time. Child’s pose. Balasana. Incredible class, created by each soul that created space for @baptisteyoga today. I am in the experience of gratitude for myself for sticking with this thing called yoga and deepening my own practice over that last 2 plus decades of my life. I’ve practiced since I was in jr. high. Yoga always called me, yet never wanted to teach it because I didn’t want to ruin it. Baptiste changed that for me. It became real to me that I could Love a practice so much AND be in the teaching AND in the learning. I am impacted both as student and as teacher. I have practiced many forms of this never ending practice, and as teacher I am still in the learning, and thank God. It is through each Body that comes that I have access to doing something that lights my 🔥 fire. You each provide me with a new looking and a dynamic way of living life powerfully. It is I that am the lucky one. It is me that has improved as a teacher because you show up and I get to “practice” on you, with you. You have impacted me to the core.
